How I Approach Our Work Together
-
I’m on a journey to becoming body-neutral. For the way I view my own body and the way I view others. I’m working towards taking care of my body and appreciating it for caring for me in hard times. (My belly has held so much stress for me, it’s okay and reasonable that it’s bigger right now)
Your body is not good or bad. It just is.
What does this mean for your photos?
My goal is to capture everyone exactly as they are - in a beautiful, artful way that allows you to see your body objectively and appreciate it. That means I do not offer “plus size” posing, photoshop retouching (except for removal of temporary blemishes), or other accommodations.
You should work with me if you want to accept your body exactly how it is without trying to change or fix it.
-
Yes, photos are important to show off your business, capture your wedding day, or have gifts to send to mom.
But, I see them as so much more. I see photographs as an art form.
That means I’m going to take time to find good lighting. I might use more creative or unique lighting for some of your photos (hello, sun!). I work to find an artistic background.
This is a safe space for your creativity, too! I want to hear your ideas. I view our work together as an artistic collaboration.
I love polaroids and film, too, and I offer them as add-ons with all of my packages.
-
Our work together is a collaboration. We are going to get creative and play and experiment.
That means we may take some photos right in the sun. You may squint a little.
We may use shadows.
I may ask you to sit in the grass.
I may ask you to stand in the middle of a field.
I may play with blurred edges, prisms, or motion-blur.
While I will always deliver you a gallery with traditional images, I will also do my best to include some fun and creative images as well.
*Note: these prompts depend on your comfort level. I will never ask you to do something you’re not comfortable with!
-
There is room for everyone at the table.
I’m not going to judge you or exclude you for your sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion, body size, abilities, or anything else.
I’m not going to judge you for what you choose to share with me, your creative ideas, or the way you show up to your session.
This is a safe and open space, and I’m happy to have you - exactly as you are!
-
I am a true-to-life photographer.
While I am creative and experimental in my work, I want you to look back and see the day through clear eyes.
This means I edit my photos true-to-color. I try to match the tones to how I experienced them in real life. I don’t edit with “trendy” presets or filters.
I offer prompts instead of placing you in specific poses. My goal is to guide you naturally into interacting in a real and raw way with each other/yourself/etc. I incorporate a lot of movement to keep things flowing and natural.
I don’t offer photoshop retouching (except for removal of temporary blemishes or occasional background distractions).
I work to create art out of the ordinary, but in a way that is true to who you are.
My goal is for my work to be just as valuable to you in 20, 50, or 100 years as it is today.

SO what does the process of working with me look like?
We’ll start the booking process with a zoom call or better yet, grabbing a cup of coffee together in person so I can get to know you and make sure we are a good fit for your vision. This initial meeting also allows me to ask all the questions so I can show up as your wedding photographer the way you need me to. I’ll send over the contract, you’ll pay the deposit & we’ll set up a few meetings before your big day to talk about all the details.
Leading up to your day, I will be there for you. All your ideas, questions, and concerns are welcome. We’ll take time to go over wedding day details and put together a cohesive timeline and plan for the day, so that when the day arrives, you can just enjoy the moment.
I show up with a calm and accepting presence on your wedding day. I try to strike a balance between posed photos and a documentary approach. I want to capture the moments as they happen and also give you beautiful photos with the people you love.
After your big day I’ll edit, organize, and deliver your images to you in an online gallery within 8-10 business weeks.
You will have the opportunity to add albums and/or prints to your package. I believe it’s so important to print your photos out, so you can always have a tangible reminder of your favorite moments and favorite people.
Pricing: What to Expect
I custom create every wedding package based on your specific needs. We start by talking through how many hours of photography you likely need, how big your wedding is and whether you need a second photographer, and any fun add-ons you may want!
My favorite add-ons are 35mm film and polaroid photos. While I always throw in a handful of polaroid photos just for fun, you can add on a few rolls of film to get lots of polaroids of all the parts of your day!
I also offer wedding albums. I work with Red Tree Albums which is based here in Louisville, KY! If you are interested in a wedding album, you can add that on when you book or even purchase one after you receive your photos.
When you send me an inquiry form, I’ll send over a pricing guide which goes into depth about each aspect of your custom package. Then, on our call, we will discuss the details of your day, and we can put together your custom package.
While I won’t know exactly how much your wedding package will be until we talk, most couples who book with me spend between $3000-$5000.
FAQs
-
Yes, I’m going to get the classic moments: first kiss, interactions with your families, photos of your cake, etc, but my ultimate focus from inquiry to final delivery is to know you both so well that my presence on your wedding day feels like a friend. The relationship I build with my couples is what ensures every final gallery I deliver is one-of-a-kind. Unparalleled. Completely yours.
-
The package you book with me determines the general final image count of the final gallery.
-
I curate client galleries generously to artistically tell the story of your wedding day while providing as many variations of moments as I can. I’m much more focused on delivering as many amazing images to you that I can rather than limiting the gallery to “x” number of photos.
-
I try to edit as true to the color you experienced as possible. I typically only retouch blemishes or things that would not usually be there (pimples, scratches, make-up smudges, etc.). I do not change your natural complexion, scars, eye color, or weight, because I believe you are beautiful as you are. Your physical appearance is part of what makes your photos so special, and it’s also a key part of my artistic inspiration.
Note: I may occasionally edit out things in the background if they are distracting, upon my discretion.
-
Absolutely! I love to travel, especially when it’s for work. I charge a travel fee to cover my traveling expenses.
-
I currently live in Greenville, SC, however, I am moving to Louisville, KY soon. Because of this, I am now also taking sessions in the Louisville, KY area - including Southern Indiana, Lexington, and beyond. (Travel fees are waived for sessions in these areas).
I’m happy to serve every individual! I do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, size, or disability.
Note: Some photos second shot for other photographers including Kendra Farris Photography and Frames and Letters Photography
