Family is one of the most important things we have in this life, an anchor that grounds us amidst life's chaos. It’s so important to capture the fleeting moments we have as time passes and family grows and changes. The Rampey family, a loving household with five amazing boys, recently invited me to come into their home and spend some time hanging out with them and capturing this season of their lives. I love in-home photography sessions, especially for families, because it allows me to document your connection and your daily interactions and to preserve them forever.
I have known the Rampey family for a few years now, and every time I interact with them, I am struck by their genuine love for each other and the people in their lives. Our photo shoot together was no different. Upon entering their home, I was immediately greeted and immersed in the loving, laughter-filled atmosphere. The boys, ranging in ages from toddler to teenager, are all so unique, but each of them was so welcoming to me.
One of my favorite things about an in-home, lifestyle photo session is that it allows me to document moments authentically as they occur. Melanie and I met for coffee before their session, and we talked about how they usually spend their time together at home. For the Rampey family, they love to spend time together outdoors, exploring the woods on their property, sharing meals together, and reading aloud. They read aloud every night together, and when I was with them, they just picked up the chapter they had left off in. The Rampey family is very musically talented, and each one of them plays some kind of musical instrument. They regularly create music together, so I also took photos of them creating music as they spent quality time with each other. I had the privilege of documenting so many genuine emotions and interactions between them.
The Rampey family is a true testament to how beautiful diversity is. Each one of their five boys is so different, with their own interests, passions, and quirks. Some are more thoughtful, some more curious or fun-loving, some more energetic. I loved watching the boys interact with each other. They shared so much joy and laughter, which was so much fun to witness.
The Rampeys chose an album to go with their session, and I love that because they have these photos preserved forever in a beautiful way. They will be able to look back at this season in their lives for years and years to come. When their children go off to college, get married, or become parents themselves, the Rampeys will be able to look back at the beautiful years of their boys’ childhood. I’m so thankful I got to spend time with them and document these years together with candid photos. What a beautiful way to preserve their legacy.
